New Delhi, July 2: BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana has responded to a letter sent by 117 prominent citizens of India and Pakistan to their respective Prime Ministers, urging dialogue over conflict. He also commented on the Dwarka-Vasant Kunj six-lane underground tunnel project and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statements regarding the Ram Temple donation controversy.
The letter, signed by notable figures including former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti from India, and 56 individuals from Pakistan, including former Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, emphasizes the need for peace and development in South Asia.
In his reaction, Khatana criticized the Congress party’s stance, stating that they consistently align with adversaries. He labeled Abdullah and Mufti as “merchants of death,” questioning their commitment to peace given their history in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed concern over the violence and destruction in the region, asking if they are oblivious to the suffering caused by their actions.
Khatana posed a rhetorical question about engaging in dialogue with a nation like Pakistan, which he claims has not developed its infrastructure and has historically incited violence in India. He emphasized that peace cannot coexist with hostility, referencing military operations that have taught Pakistan a lesson. He insisted that Pakistan must vacate the territories it occupies in Jammu and Kashmir to foster peace and progress.
Regarding the Dwarka-Vasant Kunj project, Khatana praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership over the past 12 years, highlighting advancements in infrastructure, technology, and renewable energy. He noted that these developments would significantly benefit the nation, particularly in addressing traffic congestion in Delhi.
On the Ram Temple donation issue, Khatana affirmed that legal actions are underway against those involved in any wrongdoing, and strict measures will be enforced.
