
New Delhi, July 1: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon her arrival in Delhi, aimed at strengthening India-Japan relations. PM Modi expressed confidence that their joint efforts would promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
In a message on the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi stated, “Welcome to India, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. We are delighted to host you on your first visit to India, and I look forward to our extensive discussions on Thursday that will deepen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.”
He emphasized that the collaborative efforts of both nations would continue to advance peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
Prime Minister Takaichi also expressed her happiness upon arriving in India for her first visit as Japan’s Prime Minister. She mentioned that discussions with PM Modi will cover critical issues, including economic and energy security.
On ‘X’, Takaichi wrote, “I have arrived in Delhi, the capital of India. This will be my first visit to India as Prime Minister in nearly three years, and personally, it is my first visit here.”
She added, “Our talks with PM Modi will address essential topics such as economic security and energy security. Our goal is to deepen strategic cooperation between Japan and India, enhance mutual collaboration, and strengthen the Japan-India Special Strategic Global Partnership in light of current international circumstances.”
During her three-day visit, Takaichi is scheduled to hold high-level talks with PM Modi. Both leaders will participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, where they will discuss various significant issues, including trade, investment, defense, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, automobiles, supply chain, and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
Takaichi expressed confidence that her visit would provide new momentum for economic, strategic, and industrial cooperation between the two countries, fostering a robust and sustainable economic partnership through collaboration between the public and private sectors.
