BJP Maintains Dominance in Gujarat Local Elections, Deputy CM Attributes Success to Development Agenda

Gandhinagar, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : In Gandhinagar, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi and BJP State President Jagdish Vishwakarma credited the party’s success in the recent local elections to its commitment to development and good governance.

Sanghvi expressed on the social media platform X that the election results demonstrate the public’s trust in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and reinforce the party’s dedication to transparent administration and welfare initiatives. He stated, “The mandate received in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation and other elections reflects the people’s confidence in the BJP.”

He congratulated the victorious candidates and thanked the citizens of Gujarat for their support, while also praising the party workers who contributed to the campaign.

Vishwakarma echoed these sentiments, noting that the election results have invigorated the party’s commitment to development. He described the outcomes as a symbol of public trust in the BJP and its development agenda. “The people have expressed unwavering faith in development and good governance, rejecting political opportunism,” he remarked, thanking voters for their historic support and congratulating party workers.

These comments came as the BJP retained control of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC), winning 38 out of 44 seats. The Congress party secured 5 seats, while an independent candidate won one. In contrast to the previous elections in 2021, where the BJP won 41 seats, its current tally has decreased to 38.

The Congress party improved its performance, increasing its seat count from 2 to 5, winning all four seats in Ward 6 and one seat in Ward 7. An independent candidate also claimed a seat in Ward 2.

Additionally, the BJP maintained its dominance in the Thara and Okha municipalities, winning 19 out of 24 seats in Thara, while Congress secured 5 seats. In Okha, the BJP triumphed in 33 out of 36 seats, including 4 uncontested victories, with Congress taking 3 seats.

Sanghvi urged party workers to continue their service-oriented efforts, emphasizing the importance of ongoing public engagement.
