BJP Leaders Condemn Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann as Guru-Anti Following Akal Takhts Declaration

Chandigarh, June 16: The reaction from BJP leaders has surfaced after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was declared ‘Guru-Anti’ by the Akal Takht.

BJP leader Fateh Jung Bajwa stated that Bhagwant Mann disrespected Guru Sahib. He emphasized that any Sikh who fails to honor their Gurus is deemed guilty by the community. The Akal Takht has issued a statement declaring that no discussions should take place with Mann, labeling his actions as intolerable.

Bajwa further asserted that an FIR should be filed against Mann for his actions, which he claims have insulted the Gurus. He believes Mann’s behavior is unacceptable and calls for his removal from the Chief Minister’s position. “If he does not heed the Sikh community and the Akal Takht Sahib, how will he face the people of Punjab? It will be extremely difficult for him to seek votes from Sikhs,” he remarked.

Bajwa added that despite Mann’s capabilities, his behavior while intoxicated has led to a loss of credibility, suggesting that he should resign to possibly earn forgiveness from the people of Punjab and the Sikh community.

He accused Mann of claiming to be a disciple of Bhagat Singh while being enamored with power, asserting that Mann is unlikely to relinquish his position. Bajwa believes that the actions taken against Mann by the Akal Takht will make it challenging for him to navigate Punjab. He described today as a dark chapter for Mann.

BJP leader R.P. Singh commented on the issue, recalling that a few months ago, videos of Mann surfaced, allegedly showing him inebriated and pouring alcohol on a Guru’s portrait. The Akal Takht had requested the Mann government to investigate these videos or allow them to conduct the inquiry, labeling the footage as highly objectionable.

Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa criticized Mann, calling him a ‘dirty man’ for disrespecting the Akal Takht Sahib. Meanwhile, Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi highlighted the importance of the Akal Takht’s authority, recalling that even Maharaja Ranjit Singh once submitted to its orders. He emphasized that the Sikh community has always respected the directives from the Akal Takht.
