Ranchi, August 12: Amid ongoing student protests over alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC recruitment exams, four Congress ministers in Jharkhand have leveled serious accusations against the BJP. Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari, Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, and Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirki held a joint press conference on Wednesday, claiming that the BJP is attempting to exploit the student movement for political gain.
The ministers alleged that the BJP orchestrated disturbances by bringing in individuals from other states to participate in protests outside the assembly. Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore stated that the government was prepared to discuss student issues in the assembly on August 10. However, he claimed that the opposition party chose to surround the Chief Minister’s residence instead of engaging in dialogue.
Kishore further asserted that the BJP had attempted to escalate the protests by mobilizing party workers from Bihar, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh. Despite this, he noted that the government and administration maintained restraint. He emphasized that the protesters reaching the gates of the assembly poses a serious threat to parliamentary order and called for a high-level investigation into the entire incident.
Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari mentioned that he visited the Sadar Hospital late at night to meet student leader Devendra Nath Mahto, who was on a hunger strike. Ansari claimed that the student leader acknowledged that some individuals were trying to derail the movement. He also stated that the government has accepted around 95% of the students’ demands and remains open to discussions on the remaining issues.
Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh expressed regret over any injuries sustained by students during the protests. She reiterated that the government seeks a resolution through dialogue with the youth. Singh highlighted that since 2015, there have been 152 cases of paper leaks in the state, yet no one has been punished in any of these cases.
According to her, the BJP is attempting to divert the investigation following government actions. Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirki demanded an apology from BJP state president Aditya Sahu for his accusations. She dismissed the BJP’s allegations against Rahul Gandhi, asserting that the police worked to manage the situation according to established protocols during the protests.
The ministers concluded by stating that the government is serious about conducting impartial investigations and improving the examination system related to JPSC and JSSC. They emphasized that the government prefers to resolve issues through dialogue and that matters concerning students’ futures should not be politicized.
