Chennai, August 29: BJP leader Narayanan Tirupati stated on Saturday that there is no issue with singing the state song before the national anthem and national song. He emphasized that the order of singing these three is inconsequential, as the state is an integral part of India.
Tirupati, speaking to a news agency, remarked that “Tamil Thai Vazhthu” (the state song), the national song, and the national anthem are all equally important. The sequence in which they are sung does not matter. If someone wishes to sing “Tamil Thai Vazhthu” first, there is no problem with that. All of these are vital to our identity.
He urged that this should not become a contentious issue or lead to disputes. If people prefer to sing the Tamil Nadu state song first, it should not be a problem. There should be no controversy over this. Ultimately, Tamil Nadu is also an integral part of India, so there should be no issues regarding the order of singing; it simply needs to be sung.
Meanwhile, he accused the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly of attempting to promote Christianity.
This controversy began when Prabhakar participated as the chief guest at the anti-abortion rally “5th National March for Life” in Chennai on August 8 and 9.
Targeting TVK leader Prabhakar, BJP leader Narayanan Tirupati stated that it is evident that JCD Prabhakar has always been a supporter of Christianity and has attempted to promote it. While he is free to practice his faith, he should not use his position in a democracy to emphasize or promote his religion.
He expressed surprise that others have not condemned this behavior. If a similar statement had been made about Hinduism, the individual would have been labeled communal, but this is not happening because they are pseudo-secular.
Condemning Prabhakar’s actions, the BJP leader suggested that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay should advise him against actions that could impact the TVK-led government.
