New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari has responded to Congress and Rahul Gandhi’s allegations regarding charges associated with the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). He asserted that Congress is spreading misinformation, emphasizing that no customer will incur additional fees. Over 90% of UPI transactions are under ₹2,000, and the proposed changes will not impact the average consumer.
In reaction to Rahul Gandhi’s post on X, Bhandari labeled Congress as a “shop of lies.” He accused the opposition party of attempting to create confusion among the public regarding UPI. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has seen significant advancements in digital payments and financial transactions, with UPI becoming a crucial tool for everyday payments and gaining global recognition.
Bhandari claimed that when the central government initiated steps to promote UPI and the digital finance revolution, Congress opposed these efforts. He criticized Congress for historically opposing Modi’s digital financial initiatives while now questioning UPI’s success.
Rejecting Congress’s claims of potential taxes or additional fees on UPI, Bhandari reiterated that ordinary customers will not face extra costs. He pointed out that the majority of UPI transactions are under ₹2,000, and no additional charges will apply to other transactions either. He stated that Congress’s portrayal of UPI is misleading and does not reflect the reality, noting that the public will continue to utilize UPI.
Bhandari also launched a personal attack on Rahul Gandhi, stating that Congress lacks substantial issues to address. He accused Gandhi of constantly making allegations and spreading them via social media. Referencing the recent election results in Rajasthan, he said the public has supported “the roar of truth” over “the echoes of lies.” He believes that similar to the UPI issue, the public will not accept Congress’s accusations.
The BJP spokesperson concluded by asserting that India’s economy is progressing, with UPI’s success exemplifying the country’s digital capabilities. He suggested that Congress is troubled by this success, leading them to disseminate false information. The achievements in digital payments are a result of the changes implemented under Prime Minister Modi, yet the opposition continues to question UPI’s success.
