Chennai, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, arrived in Chennai on Saturday to meet with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at his residence in Neelankarai. The two leaders engaged in discussions on various topics of mutual interest.

Gandhi’s visit coincides with the ‘Students Voice’ program, which aims to address issues affecting students. The meeting with Chief Minister Vijay attracted attention from political circles.

Prior to the event, Congress leaders indicated that the program would focus on student-related concerns. Topics such as examination irregularities, paper leaks, rising education costs, unemployment, and job opportunities are set to be discussed during the event.

Extensive arrangements have been made for the program, which will take place at the Island Grounds in Chennai. Organizers reported that a large number of students from across the state have registered to participate, although entry will be limited to a select group.

As part of the ‘Students Voice’ initiative, Rahul Gandhi has previously engaged with students in Kota, Pune, Nashik, and Indore. This initiative aims to directly listen to the concerns of youth regarding the education system and employment, making their voices part of the public discourse.

During his stay in Chennai, Gandhi is expected to meet with Congress officials and other prominent political leaders. After the program, he plans to return to New Delhi.

Organizers noted that over 100,000 students registered via QR codes and the event website. However, only 10,000 students with identification will be allowed entry to the discussions.

Students from various colleges across the state are anticipated to attend. To accommodate those outside the main area, large screens will be set up for public viewing of the event.

Facilities for drinking water and restrooms have also been arranged at the venue. Approximately 350 invited educational representatives, including college principals and professors, will have seating provided.
