BJPs Samik Bhattacharya Claims CJP Movement is Anti-National

Kolkata, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : The president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal, Samik Bhattacharya, has accused the ongoing movement led by the “Cockroach People’s Party” (CJP) of being anti-national, asserting it receives support from forces opposed to the country.

The CJP is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Bhattacharya emphasized that while every citizen in a democratic nation has the right to protest, certain unnecessary elements are trying to elevate their importance through this movement. He described the current protests as stemming from despair, adding that the government is monitoring the situation closely. “Anti-national forces are operating under cover,” he claimed, stating that they possess concrete information regarding these activities.

Without directly naming the Congress party or the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee, he suggested that a “half-dead political force” is attempting to maintain relevance by aligning with a moribund entity through this movement.

Bhattacharya remarked that the former Chief Minister of West Bengal has moved to New Delhi instead of staying in the state. “We want her to be here during this festive season and visit various puja pandals. We want to see her doing that. Where have all the senior leaders of the Trinamool Congress gone?” he questioned.

In response, Mamata Banerjee took to social media, sharing a video message in which she alleged that she was prevented from reaching Jantar Mantar and was confined at her residence in the national capital along with other Trinamool Congress leaders.

In her video, she claimed that when she attempted to initiate a protest on South Avenue, Delhi police detained Trinamool Congress leaders and placed them in a police van. “I wanted to join the youth movement at Jantar Mantar, but we were not allowed. We then started a peaceful protest in front of our home, but the police detained us and pushed us into a police van. The BJP is making every effort to extinguish democracy in India, but ultimately, they will not succeed,” she asserted.
