New Delhi, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are escalating over the state of school education in Punjab. Following a statement from AICC Punjab in-charge Sachin Pilot, BJP national spokesperson R.P. Singh launched a sharp critique against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Saturday. Singh accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s administration of neglecting the education system, particularly in Sangrur, Mann’s home district.
Pilot had urged the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) to keep a close watch on the conditions of schools in Punjab. In response, Singh remarked that Pilot was showing leniency towards the AAP. He highlighted the dire situation in Sangrur, noting that schools there are severely lacking in teachers.
“There are 55,000 teaching positions, yet 18,000 posts remain unfilled. About 70% of schools are without teachers. The entire educational framework is crumbling,” Singh stated.
Regarding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s comments, Singh asserted that there is no doubt about the global recognition of India’s electoral system’s strength. He emphasized the significance of conducting elections on such a large scale, ensuring transparency from voter registration to counting.
On the Enforcement Directorate’s recent actions against a close associate of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Singh revealed that ₹32 lakh in cash and gold were found at the aide’s residence. He questioned how an individual with such a modest salary could accumulate such wealth, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the assets.
Singh also addressed the situation involving former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating that Chandrababu Naidu‘s actions are lawful. “If anyone believes the legal process is not being followed, they can approach the court,” he added. This comes as Naidu’s government intensifies investigations into irregularities from the previous YSRCP administration ahead of the 2024 elections.
