New Delhi, April 7: BJD MP Sasmit Patra has made a significant statement regarding the metro project in Odisha. He has written a detailed proposal to Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar concerning this initiative.
Patra emphasized that the commencement of the metro project in key corridors such as Puri, Khurda, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack would greatly benefit the public and accelerate regional development.
He stated that this corridor connecting the four cities is crucial for Odisha. Patra also suggested that if the state government is unable or unwilling to advance the project, the central government could intervene under the National Urban Transport Policy and the Metro Policy of 2017. These policies allow for a collaborative effort between the center and the state to take charge of the project jointly.
He expressed hope that the central government would play an active role in this matter and engage in discussions with the state government to reach a solid conclusion. The BJD MP noted that it currently appears that the Odisha government is not receiving adequate support from the center, but he is confident that the central minister will seriously consider this issue, enabling the state’s residents to benefit from the metro project.
In addition to local matters, Sasmit Patra also commented on international issues. He referenced a statement from the U.S. President, indicating that the American public now desires the withdrawal of their troops. He remarked that this signals a potential halt to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which is very positive news.
Patra stated that if the U.S. withdraws its troops and military activities cease, the impact would not only be felt in that region but across the globe. He added that the end of the conflict would allow the Strait of Hormuz to reopen, where currently over 2,000 ships are stranded. This would lead to a decrease in oil prices and help control inflation.
