Bihars RJD Demands Investigation into Fake Voters in Tirhut Graduates Constituency

Patna, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has formally requested the Election Commission to extend the voter registration deadline in the Tirhut Graduates Constituency of Bihar. The party is also demanding the removal of alleged fake voters from the electoral rolls and the appointment of special observers to oversee the process.

On Wednesday, a delegation from the RJD met with the Additional Chief Electoral Officer in the absence of the Chief Electoral Officer. The group included prominent party figures such as National General Secretary Bhola Yadav, Chittranjan Gagan, Madan Sharma, and Faiz Alam Kamal. In their memorandum, the RJD accused the electoral authorities of facilitating mass registration of fraudulent voters in the constituency.

The party specifically pointed to Rohit Chaudhary, an official stationed at the Sitamarhi District Collectorate, alleging that he provided undue advantages to a particular group. These claims, however, stem from the RJD’s perspective.

The RJD contended that while fake voter registrations were allegedly taking place, supporters of opposition parties were facing difficulties in submitting their voter registration forms. The party has called for a thorough investigation into these matters. According to the memorandum, the Commissioner of the Tirhut Division in Muzaffarpur had set the deadline for submitting voter registration forms to September 9. However, the RJD noted that forms could not be submitted on September 3 and 4 due to the Commissioner being on leave, and the process was further disrupted by the holidays on September 5 (Janmashtami) and September 6 (Sunday).

The situation escalated on September 7, when a potential candidate from a particular group allegedly created a disturbance at the Commissioner’s office, leading to a halt in the registration process. The RJD has urged the Election Commission to investigate the alleged fake voters, extend the registration deadline, and open additional counters at the Commissioner’s office for form submissions. They also called for the reactivation of the Election Commission’s online portal, which has been temporarily closed.

To ensure fair and transparent elections, the RJD has requested the appointment of a senior official as a special observer, tasked with verifying the legitimacy of voters and ensuring eligible graduates can register.
