Patna, February 17: The much-anticipated Indo-Nepal Border Road Project, connecting seven districts along the India-Nepal border in Bihar, is now in its final stages. Over 95% of the construction work has been completed.

This significant central project, which starts from Madanpur in West Champaran and extends to Galgaliya in Kishanganj, is being developed at a cost of approximately ₹5,865 crores. The goal is to complete the project by May.

On Tuesday, Pankaj Kumar Pal, the Secretary of the Road Construction Department, reviewed the progress of the Indo-Nepal Border Road Project. He assessed the current status of construction and provided directives to resolve any obstacles hindering the remaining work.

Under this project, approximately 554 kilometers of road is to be constructed in Bihar, with over 529 kilometers already completed.

During the meeting, the Secretary instructed officials to address land acquisition and other challenges faced in the construction within East Champaran district. So far, 808 culverts and 129 bridges have been constructed, with work on the remaining structures ongoing.

This road will connect border districts such as West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj. It is expected to provide millions in the border area with a smooth, safe, and direct route for trade, education, healthcare services, and agricultural products.

The primary aim of the project is to connect Border Security Force outposts via road and to establish control over illegal activities in border areas. The Secretary stated that this road will ensure quick and easy access to the Border Security Force outposts, while also improving transportation facilities in border villages.
