Pakistans PM Shahbaz Sharif Claims US-Iran Peace Deal Could Be Finalized Within 24 Hours

New Delhi, June 13: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has asserted that a proposed peace agreement between the United States and Iran could be finalized within the next 24 hours. He also mentioned preparations for electronic signing of the agreement.

On the social media platform X, Shahbaz Sharif stated, “We are closer to a peace agreement than ever before.” He informed that Pakistan is preparing for electronic signatures, which will facilitate further technical discussions.

The Pakistani Prime Minister expressed gratitude to both the US and Iran for their cooperation during the negotiation process. He remarked, “We appreciate the commitment shown by the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran during their talks. We also thank our brother countries in the region for their support.”

Sharif expressed confidence that this “historic peace agreement” would lay a strong foundation for lasting peace in the region.

However, detailed information regarding the final draft of the agreement, its terms, and formal announcement has not yet been made public by the involved parties. Thus, the situation remains under observation until the agreement is officially implemented.

On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi’s comments were published by Tasnim News Agency, indicating a two-phase approach to the agreement. Araghchi noted that the proposed deal includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz, ending ongoing conflicts, and a mutual non-interference pledge between the US and Iran. He mentioned that the draft agreement consists of 14 points, with discussions on nuclear program issues to occur in the second phase, which will last for 60 days.

He further stated, “The operation of the Strait of Hormuz will not return to pre-war conditions. Iran and Oman have rights over this crucial waterway, and Iran will ensure the safe passage of vessels.”

Araghchi confirmed that the proposed ceasefire agreement with the US includes a phased release of Iran’s seized and frozen assets. However, negotiations regarding the final form of the agreement and the conditions for asset release are still ongoing. He reiterated that the administration of the Strait of Hormuz would not revert to pre-war arrangements, and fees would be charged for services provided in this vital maritime route.

Araghchi emphasized, “The administration of Hormuz will not return to the pre-war situation,” indicating that new administrative and service-related arrangements would be implemented for vessels passing through this important maritime corridor.
