Patna, February 19: The Bihar government will enforce a ban on loud DJ music during religious, social events, and various ceremonies. This announcement was made by Bihar’s Transport Minister, Shravan Kumar, during the Legislative Council session on Thursday. He stated that an initiative to curb this practice will be launched within the next 15 days.
During the budget session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, MLC Vanshidhar Brajwasi raised concerns, highlighting that loud DJ music has led to several heart attack fatalities. Additionally, incidents of gunfire at weddings have been reported. There have also been instances of brawls triggered by the broadcast of inappropriate songs through DJs, raising serious concerns.
Other members of the council supported this issue, questioning the use of loud DJ music in vehicles. In response, Minister Shravan Kumar clarified that DJs operating without permission and licenses would be banned, and such vehicles would be confiscated.
He emphasized that within 15 days, a campaign would be launched against those playing DJs without authorization. He also addressed the illegal use of DJs in vehicles, stating that the transport department would conduct a special campaign against sound pollution.
Vehicles that violate regulations by playing DJs at various events will also be seized. Actions will be taken under the law regarding sound pollution.
In a light-hearted remark, the minister joked that people should not later complain about the lack of DJ music at weddings, as the absence of DJs is preventing people from dancing at these joyous occasions.
