Patna, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : The Bihar Vigilance Bureau conducted raids on four properties belonging to a couple of government officials in Patna and Begusarai on September 30. The operation uncovered approximately ₹80 lakh in cash, along with jewelry valued at around ₹52.60 lakh and 48 luxury watches estimated at ₹6.01 lakh.
The case involves Ravindra Kumar Diwakar, an Additional District Magistrate (Supply) in Patna, and his wife Kumari Sweety, who is serving as a sub-registrar in Danapur. They are accused of accumulating assets worth about ₹1.07 crore beyond their known sources of income. The case was registered on September 25 under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 61(2) of the Indian Penal Code.
According to Vigilance officials, ₹70.53 lakh was seized from the couple’s flat in Patna, while ₹9.44 lakh was confiscated from their residence in Begusarai, totaling ₹79.98 lakh in cash. The jewelry recovered included gold, silver, and diamond pieces, with an estimated value of ₹52.60 lakh—₹23.89 lakh from Patna and ₹28.70 lakh from Begusarai.
Additionally, the raids yielded 48 wristwatches from various brands, valued at approximately ₹6.01 lakh. Documents related to investments and bank accounts were also found, prompting the freezing of two of the couple’s bank accounts.
The Vigilance Bureau has identified seven properties purchased between 2017 and 2026 under their names, including two flats in Danapur, three plots in Fulwari Sharif, and two plots in Begusarai, totaling approximately ₹2.92 crore in value. The actual worth of the two flats in Danapur is still under assessment due to ongoing interior work.
A search warrant was obtained from the Special Vigilance Court in Patna for this operation, which involved four teams conducting searches at the couple’s residences and offices. Ravindra Kumar Diwakar began his government career as a teacher in 2000 and has since held various administrative positions, culminating in his appointment as Additional District Magistrate in October 2025. His wife, Kumari Sweety, has been a sub-registrar since 2013, serving in multiple locations before her current posting in Danapur. The Vigilance Bureau continues to investigate the seized assets and financial records.
