Beijing, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : The final day of the Asian Games track and field competition took place in Beijing, where the Chinese team showcased their prowess. They secured a total of 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals across 9 events, bringing their overall tally to 17 gold, 14 silver, and 8 bronze medals, the highest among all participating nations.
In the women’s 4×100 meter relay, the Chinese team clinched the title with a time of 40.78 seconds, narrowly beating Thailand by just 0.09 seconds, while India took home the bronze medal. The race was thrilling, with the Chinese team trailing behind Thailand during the first three legs. However, 17-year-old anchor Chen Yuchue made a remarkable sprint to secure the victory.
Chen Yuchue, competing in her first Asian Games, won gold in the 100 meters, silver in the 200 meters, and gold in both the 4×100 meter and mixed 4×100 meter relays.
In the women’s hammer throw, 19-year-old Chinese athlete Qiang Qiaole set a new Asian Games record with a throw of 78.27 meters on her fourth attempt, earning her a gold medal.
Meanwhile, in the women’s 800 meters, Wu Hongchao of China claimed victory with a time of 2 minutes and 4.49 seconds. After her race, she expressed her confidence, stating, “I was in my rhythm throughout the match. I had aimed to win the Asian Games title after securing victories in national and Asian competitions in recent years.”
