Patna, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : In Patna, on September 10, Arun Bharti, a Member of Parliament from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), met with Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. During this meeting, Bharti proposed naming a roundabout on Marine Drive (JP Ganga Path) after the late Padma Bhushan awardee Ram Vilas Paswan. He also requested the installation of a grand statue in Paswan’s honor.
Accompanying Bharti were Surendra Vivek, the state president of the party, and Dhirendra Kumar Munna, the national general secretary and media in-charge. Bharti presented his request with emotional appeal, emphasizing that Paswan dedicated his life to fighting for the rights and dignity of the poor, Dalits, and marginalized communities.
He noted that Marine Drive has become a symbol of Bihar’s evolving landscape, modern development, and the aspirations of the new generation. “To give a permanent tribute to Ram Vilas Paswan at such an important site would be a true homage to his contributions,” Bharti stated.
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary listened attentively to the delegation’s request. Party leaders expressed hope that the Bihar government would respond positively to the proposal.
Previously, Chirag Paswan, the national president of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and a central minister, wrote to the Chief Minister on August 31, advocating for the roundabout’s naming as “Padma Bhushan Shree Ram Vilas Paswan Roundabout” and the establishment of a statue there.
In his letter, Chirag Paswan highlighted that Ram Vilas Paswan was a champion of social justice and the voice for the oppressed. Over nearly five decades in public life, he worked tirelessly for the rights and dignity of the poor, Dalits, and backward classes. Paswan served as a member of the Lok Sabha nine times and the Rajya Sabha twice, holding significant ministerial responsibilities under six Prime Ministers.
Chirag Paswan’s letter also requested the Chief Minister to direct the relevant department to take action on the proposal, appoint a nodal department, and provide updates on the current status of the request.
Party leaders believe that naming the roundabout and erecting a statue of Ram Vilas Paswan at a prominent site like Marine Drive will serve to educate future generations about his struggles and social contributions.
