New Delhi, July 19: Bihar Minister Lakhendra Paswan has expressed confidence in winning the upcoming Bankipur by-election. He asserted that in Bankipur, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) lotus symbol is the only option.
Speaking to a news agency in Delhi, Paswan stated, “The Bankipur assembly seat has traditionally been held by the BJP and the NDA. For the past 30 years, the NDA and BJP have consistently won from there. I have just returned from several events in Bankipur. If you ask the locals, they will tell you that there is nothing but the BJP’s lotus symbol.”
Paswan noted that in the last election, the BJP won by a margin of 51,000 votes. The current national president of the BJP, Nitin Nabin, was elected from there. He claimed, “This time, we will win with an even larger margin. The party has nominated a grassroots worker as our candidate. Comparisons are being made with Prashant Kishor. Understand that our booth president is contesting against Kishor.”
He added, “Prashant Kishor will be completely sidelined in the Bankipur electoral battle. In the last assembly elections, all of Kishor’s candidates lost their deposits. This time, he will break his own record, as his deposit will also be forfeited in the by-election.”
Regarding the protest led by Sonam Wangchuk at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, Paswan emphasized that the NDA government prioritizes public welfare, security, and health.
On Wangchuk’s transfer from the protest site to a hospital, he remarked, “Every individual has the right to protest, but if someone sits on a hunger strike for an extended period, the Indian government becomes concerned about their health. For security reasons, the government and police administration took this step.”
