Bhojpur, June 23: The mother of 28-year-old Bharat Tiwari, who was shot dead by a joint police and Special Task Force (STF) team in Bihar’s Bhojpur district, has called for the death penalty for the accused. She expressed her belief that the entire state stands with her in her quest for justice.
In an interview with a news agency, Bharat Tiwari’s mother stated, “The person who killed my son should be hanged. I want justice. The government has the power to help us achieve this. Soon, the accused will know who Bharat Tiwari was. The whole of Bihar is like my son, and the entire state will ensure justice for him.”
Meanwhile, the Bihar government has expedited the investigation into the Bharat Tiwari encounter case. Senior police officials have indicated that both scientific and judicial methods are being employed to ensure a thorough investigation.
During a press conference on Monday, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Sudhanshu Kumar announced that the responsibility for the detailed investigation has been assigned to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Shahabad range.
According to the ADGP, modern forensic techniques and scientific methods are being utilized to investigate the circumstances surrounding the encounter.
The investigation includes analysis by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), examination of technical and digital evidence, collection and verification of physical evidence, and scrutiny of available video footage and other materials.
The police headquarters is closely monitoring the progress of the investigation. A judicial inquiry commission, headed by a retired High Court judge, has been established to conduct an independent investigation into the incident.
The commission is expected to investigate the sequence of events leading up to the encounter, review evidence and witness statements, and submit its report and recommendations to the government.
ADGP Sudhanshu Kumar revealed that two separate FIRs have been filed in connection with the incident. He stated that further legal action will be based on the information and evidence gathered during the investigation.
Additionally, the ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and the BJP assured on Tuesday that no injustice would occur in the Bharat Tiwari encounter case, reiterating their commitment to a fair and transparent investigation under the state’s governance framework.
JD-U national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad emphasized that the state government is taking the matter seriously and has initiated appropriate actions. BJP national spokesperson Shah Nawaz Hussain also assured that justice will prevail.
