Mumbai, July 11: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary emphasized on Saturday that the strength of democracy relies on the active participation and accountability of elected representatives. He urged legislators to effectively communicate public issues to the government by maximizing their engagement in assembly proceedings and parliamentary processes.
Chaudhary highlighted the need for specialized training sessions on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Bihar Assembly, acknowledging the changing technological landscape. He stated that it is the primary responsibility of legislators to convey the problems, expectations, and suggestions of their constituencies to the government through the assembly.
He remarked that question hour, zero hour, motions of attention, and other parliamentary tools are not merely formalities but effective means to amplify the voice of the public in a democracy. The Chief Minister noted that the world is rapidly evolving, and the importance of technology is continuously increasing.
He pointed out that around 20 years ago, people were unfamiliar with technologies like Facebook, yet today, mobile phones, the internet, and social media have reached every household. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, digital technology has expanded significantly in the country, leading to substantial changes in governance and the lives of ordinary citizens. He stressed that as technology’s influence grows, elected representatives must also prepare themselves accordingly.
Chaudhary stated that the world is now moving towards Artificial Intelligence. Therefore, it is crucial to organize special training sessions on AI in the Bihar Assembly, enabling legislators to understand the utility of new technologies and leverage them to enhance transparency and effectiveness in governance.
The Chief Minister concluded that democracy will only be strengthened when the development process is robust from the grassroots level to the top, ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach the most marginalized individuals. He encouraged legislators to make full use of every assembly session. Chaudhary added that the Bihar government prioritizes industry, good governance, and investment, accelerating development through the public-private partnership (PPP) model and creating a conducive environment for investment.
