Bihar Aims to Become a Tech Hub with Central Government Support

Patna, April 4: Bihar’s Minister of Information Technology, Shreyasi Singh, met with Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Saturday. The meeting focused on the comprehensive development of Bihar’s IT sector, promoting investment, fostering innovation, creating jobs, and strengthening digital infrastructure.

During the discussion, key provisions of the Bihar IT Policy-2024, Bihar GCC Policy-2026, and Bihar Semiconductor Policy-2026 were highlighted. These policies aim to position Bihar as an attractive, competitive, and industry-friendly destination for investors.

The minister also informed about the establishment of a Research Park and Startup Incubation (Phase-II) at the Indian Institute of Technology Patna, as well as the potential development of a Mega AI Center of Excellence. She requested the central government’s support for setting up electronics and related manufacturing units at the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Gaya.

Additionally, the need for AI-based training and capacity building in the state’s technical and educational institutions was emphasized, along with the expansion of STPI and NIELIT centers in various divisions.

The meeting urged the central government to provide investment leads to attract significant investments in IT, ITES, GCC, semiconductors, and other emerging technologies. It also called for incentives for anchor units and the provision of viability gap funding (VGF).

The state government reiterated its commitment to providing essential facilities for investors, including land, uninterrupted power supply, modern infrastructure, and a single-window clearance system.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw praised Bihar’s immense potential, its youthful workforce, and the rapidly evolving tech landscape, assuring full support.

Shreyasi Singh stated that with coordinated efforts from both the center and the state, Bihar is set to emerge as a major tech hub in Eastern India, leading to significant growth in digital transformation, innovation, startup culture, and quality employment opportunities.
