Kolkata, April 25: The second phase of voting in West Bengal is scheduled for April 29. In the lead-up to this crucial event, all political parties are making significant efforts to attract voters. On Saturday, Union Minister and former BJP National President JP Nadda conducted a roadshow in Kolkata.
Speaking to a news agency, Nadda stated that the first phase of voting revealed a clear decision from the public. The results indicated strong support for the BJP and opposition to the Mamata Banerjee government. He highlighted various issues affecting the common man, including corruption and extortion, which have led the public to decide to remove the Mamata government.
Nadda noted that the voting patterns in the first phase have made it evident to the Mamata government that they are losing power. He expressed confidence that the BJP would secure a clear majority in the second phase, with the situation becoming clearer on May 4.
Targeting Mamata Banerjee, Nadda remarked that her government is struggling to maintain its foothold in West Bengal while attempting to challenge the BJP in Delhi. He claimed that the people of Bengal are frustrated with her administration, which speaks one way but acts another. This time, he believes the roots of her governance are being uprooted by the electorate.
The Union Minister asserted that a double-engine government in West Bengal would accelerate development. He criticized the current administration for neglecting progress, which has left the public dissatisfied. Nadda emphasized that the people are aware of the development happening in other states under the NDA and expect the same for Bengal. Development is crucial for the state, and thus, he argued, the BJP is essential.
Regarding attempts by the opposition to remove Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Nadda stated that such efforts would be futile. He noted that the opposition tends to become anxious whenever fair elections are conducted.
