Beijing, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Saturday that it has begun an anti-dumping investigation into P-nitrotoluene imported from the European Union. This decision comes in response to a petition from the domestic industry.
A spokesperson for the ministry stated that preliminary evidence suggests a significant increase in the volume of P-nitrotoluene imports from the EU between 2022 and 2025, while prices have plummeted by approximately 60%. The ministry noted that this dumping has adversely affected the production and operations of China’s domestic industry. According to Chinese law and World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations, the application meets the necessary conditions to initiate an anti-dumping probe.
It is noteworthy that China has consistently maintained a cautious and restrained approach regarding trade measures. Since 2025, the EU has initiated 28 trade-related investigations against China, with nearly half concerning chemical products. Recent investigations have specifically targeted Chinese polyvinyl chloride and other chemicals. China has reiterated its position that the EU should address its trade and economic challenges seriously and resolve mutual concerns through dialogue and consultation.
