Patna, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : Political activity in Bihar is intensifying ahead of the legislative council elections for the Patna Graduate constituency. Anant Singh, the Mokaama MLA from the Janata Dal (United), is actively campaigning against his own party’s candidate, Neeraj Kumar, while supporting Anuj Singh from the Jan Suraj party.
On Saturday, Singh traveled to Nalanda and Nawada to rally support for Anuj Singh. As his convoy arrived, crowds gathered along the roads, welcoming him with flowers and garlands. In some locations, flowers were showered upon him using JCB machines. Long lines of supporters lined the streets to greet Singh, who was accompanied by a substantial vehicle procession.
During his campaign, Singh appealed to the public for support for Anuj Singh. “We seek blessings from everyone. The people are the masters, and that’s why we have come to them. I urge you to bless Anuj Singh so much that his box fills up, and the enemy’s bail is seized,” he stated.
This move by Anant Singh is significant, as the JD(U) has nominated Neeraj Kumar, the current member of the legislative council and the party’s main spokesperson, for the Patna Graduate seat. Singh has previously expressed his opposition to Kumar and has openly stated his support for Anuj Singh, appearing alongside him in an open vehicle during the nomination process.
Meanwhile, Neeraj Kumar met with party national president Nitish Kumar on Saturday. Following their meeting, Kumar took to social media platform X to announce that he received the nomination form for the NDA-supported JD(U) candidate for the Patna Graduate elections. He expressed gratitude towards Nitish Kumar, stating that this honor is not just for him but for every dedicated party worker. Kumar also called on party workers for love, blessings, trust, and cooperation.
The JD(U) leadership is reportedly working to resolve the ongoing dispute between Anant Singh and Neeraj Kumar. Central Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, has been tasked with addressing this conflict. Anant Singh’s active campaigning for Anuj Singh, combined with Neeraj Kumar’s outreach to party leadership, keeps the electoral discussions alive. Voting for the Bihar legislative council seats is scheduled for October 23, with counting set for October 27.
