Darwin, August 16: Bangladesh has made history by securing a remarkable victory against Australia in the first Test match held in Darwin. This win marks Bangladesh’s first triumph on Australian soil in 23 years, and it is sure to be remembered for years to come.
Australia set a modest target of just 57 runs for Bangladesh to chase. The Bangladeshi team achieved this target in just 14.2 overs, losing only one wicket. Shadman Islam scored 25 runs, while Mominul Haque remained unbeaten at 30. Notably, Tanjid Hasan, who scored a century in the first innings, was dismissed for a duck.
Earlier, Australia struggled in their second innings, collapsing to 284 runs. Apart from Cameron Green, no other Australian batsman was able to withstand the pressure from Bangladesh’s bowlers. Green fought valiantly, scoring 104 runs off 201 balls, including four boundaries and one six, before being dismissed as the ninth wicket. Steve Smith contributed 44 runs, and Alex Carey added 30 runs, but Australia could only manage a lead of 56 runs in their second innings.
For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the standout bowler, taking five wickets, while Hasan Mahmood claimed three. Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam each took one wicket.
