Moki, China, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian junior women’s hockey team showcased their dominance in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Women’s Junior Asia Cup, defeating Pakistan 19-0 in Moki, China. This resounding victory has secured India a spot in the semifinals.
From the outset, the defending champions exhibited exceptional skill. It took just seven minutes for Pooja Sahu to score the first goal, giving India an early 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Roshni Aind doubled the advantage.
The relentless attacks from the Indian players placed immense pressure on the Pakistani team. Within the next five minutes, India scored four more goals, with Tanushree Dinesh Kadu netting one in the 11th minute, followed by Sukveer Kaur and Sanika Chandrakant Mane each scoring in the 13th minute.
Madhu Sidar and Geeta Yadav also contributed goals, further extending India’s lead. Sanika Mane added her second goal in the 23rd minute, solidifying India’s strong position. The first half concluded with India firmly in control, as Tanuja Toppo and Pooja Malik scored, leading to a staggering 10-0 advantage at halftime.
The second half saw India maintain their aggressive approach. Madhu Sidar scored again in the 39th minute, and Supriya netted her first goal just a minute later. Pooja Malik then completed her hat trick with two consecutive goals in the 49th and 51st minutes, leaving no chance for a Pakistani comeback.
Krishna Sharma and Binima Dhan also found the back of the net, increasing the lead. Supriya scored her second goal in the 54th minute, and Roshni capped off the match with her second goal in the final minute, sealing India’s impressive victory. This 19-0 win was not unexpected, as the team had performed exceptionally well in the group stage, defeating strong teams like Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea to finish at the top of their group.
India will now face the winner of the quarterfinal match between South Korea and Malaysia in the semifinals. The current champions are just two wins away from clinching the Junior Women’s Asia Cup title for the third consecutive time, having previously won in 2023 and 2024.
