Jaipur, 1 September (Kiran News). The Rajasthan High Court has ordered the release of former RPSC member Ramuram Raika and 22 other accused on bail in the SI Recruitment 2021 paper leak case, after a long period in jail. However, the court denied bail to 30 other accused due to the serious nature of the offences related to the leak. The orders were passed by Justice Ashok Kumar Jain while deciding on a total of 53 bail petitions. The court had reserved its verdict on August 19 after hearing arguments from all sides.
In their bail applications, Raika and others argued that they have been in jail for an extended period, while other accused in similar cases have already been granted bail by the Supreme Court. The investigation has been completed and chargesheets have been filed, but trial in the lower court is expected to take a long time. Therefore, they requested release on bail. The government lawyer opposed the plea, stating that Raika, while being a member of the Commission, leaked the paper, which resulted in the selection of his own son and daughter through the leaked exam. Hence, bail should not be granted.
