Ranchi, August 17: Babulal Marandi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, has raised serious concerns regarding the investigation into alleged irregularities in the JSSC-CGL exam. He criticized the state government and the Crime Investigation Department (CID) for not thoroughly examining several crucial aspects related to the exam.
Marandi accused the CID of primarily focusing on candidates who were allegedly sent to Nepal before the exam to memorize answers. The JSSC-CGL exam was conducted in 2024, leading to the recruitment of over 2,000 positions. Candidates have raised multiple allegations of irregularities, including the prior availability of question papers and answers, demanding a comprehensive investigation.
On Monday, Marandi stated that candidates possess several documents related to the CID investigation. He claimed that another significant fact emerged during the inquiry. According to him, around 120 candidates were accommodated at a hotel in Niyamatpur, near Asansol in West Bengal, before the exam.
Marandi alleged that the purpose of housing these candidates together was to prepare them in advance for potential exam questions. He noted that the CID had verified the hotel and found evidence of JSSC-CGL candidates staying there. Despite this, he claimed that an effective investigation into the candidates’ stay and the alleged preparation for the exam was not conducted.
He expressed that the entire matter was later shelved, and this critical fact was not adequately presented before the High Court. Marandi asserted that many of these candidates from West Bengal later succeeded in securing government jobs through the JSSC-CGL.
He emphasized that if some candidates were provided with question information before the exam, it raises serious questions about the fairness of the entire examination process. The Leader of the Opposition also mentioned that both the High Court and the Supreme Court had granted the CID additional time to investigate pending issues. However, according to him, a thorough investigation into the relevant candidates and the entire matter in West Bengal was not conducted.
Marandi concluded that if any irregularities occurred in the JSSC-CGL case, the biggest loss was suffered by the honest youth who took the exam. He stressed the necessity for an impartial investigation into all aspects of the case.
