Punjab Police Hosts 10th NRPC Coordination Meeting Focused on Cyber Crime and Internal Security

Chandigarh, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : Chandigarh’s police department held the 10th Northern Regional Police Coordination Committee (NRPCC) meeting on September 8, 2026, in a hybrid format. This gathering included senior officials from central agencies and various state police forces, as announced by Punjab Police on their social media platforms.

Representatives from the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Investigation Agency (NIA), and police forces from Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh participated in the meeting.

The discussions primarily revolved around enhancing strategies to combat cyber crime, strengthen internal security, and improve counter-intelligence efforts. The focus was on utilizing technology to bolster preparedness and develop more effective policing capabilities.

The NRPCC aims to improve coordination among various agencies. As crime and security threats transcend state borders, effective intelligence sharing and quick joint action are crucial for addressing emerging dangers. This collective effort highlights the strength of coordinated policing and interstate collaboration against organized crime, gangster networks, cyber threats, online extremism, and other security challenges.

Moving forward, the police outlined a clear path that includes strengthening intelligence-based policing, enhancing internal and border security, promoting community policing, increasing ground-level preparedness, countering online extremism, and institutionalizing coordination among agencies. Regular mock drills and robust investigations and prosecutions are also part of this strategy.
