Ayodhya, September 3 (Daily Kiran) : In Ayodhya, the remarks made by Swami Prasad Maurya and Congress leader Imran Masood regarding the Ram Temple have sparked significant backlash from local saints. Priests from Hanumangarhi, including Devesh Acharya, along with Mahant Sitaram Das of Saket Bhawan and Sant Varundas, voiced their concerns over the political leaders’ comments, urging them to refrain from discussing religious matters.
Devesh Acharya criticized Maurya, suggesting that his controversial statements are an attempt to remain relevant in political and social discourse. He deemed Maurya’s remarks offensive to Sanatan Dharma, stating that such comments hurt religious sentiments. Acharya also called on his supporters to oppose Maurya’s views.
Mahant Sitaram Das strongly condemned Maurya’s statements, accusing him of holding a disrespectful attitude towards Sanatan Dharma. He asserted that individuals who do not adhere to Sanatan Dharma should avoid making comments on religious topics. Das emphasized that dialogue alone would not suffice to address such issues and questioned Maurya’s authority to speak on matters of faith and tradition.
Sant Varundas remarked that the saint community does not give weight to Maurya’s statements, suggesting that he makes inflammatory remarks to attract media attention. He referenced previous controversies surrounding Maurya’s comments on the Ramcharitmanas and other religious events, questioning the legitimacy of his right to comment on sacred subjects given his self-identification.
The saints also expressed discontent with Imran Masood’s comments related to the Ram Temple and former Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra. Devesh Acharya accused Masood of lacking sufficient knowledge about Hinduism and temple traditions. He insisted that Masood should educate himself before making remarks on such sensitive topics. Defending Mishra, Acharya stated that using derogatory language against a military officer is inappropriate, highlighting Mishra’s role in improving temple management as the CEO of the Ram Temple Trust.
Mahant Sitaram Das described Masood’s statement as regrettable, referencing the Congress party’s historical stance on the Ram Temple issue. He urged political leaders to respect each religion’s beliefs and traditions and to limit their comments to their own faith.
Sant Varundas added that Masood should not comment on matters related to the Ram Janmabhoomi and Hindu temples. He stressed the importance of respecting religious boundaries and noted that any disrespect towards former military officials undermines the honor due to their service.
The discourse in Ayodhya reflects ongoing tensions surrounding religious sentiments and political commentary, emphasizing the need for respect in discussions concerning sacred issues.
