Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Dispute: SIT to Visit Site on June 15, Trust Thanks Government

Ayodhya, June 15: The ongoing donation dispute related to the Ram Janmabhoomi has prompted the formation of a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT). Gopal Ji Rao, the temple’s visitation in-charge, announced that the SIT will visit the Ram Janmabhoomi complex on June 15 to investigate the matter. He noted that an audit was already underway by the Trust and the State Bank, but misunderstandings led to the emergence of this issue. Consequently, the Trust requested a government investigation.

Rao expressed gratitude towards the Uttar Pradesh government for swiftly constituting the SIT within 12 to 15 hours. He assured that the Trust would fully cooperate with the investigation and provide all necessary documents. The aim of the inquiry is to ensure transparency and dispel any misunderstandings within the community.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidas Mehrotra alleged significant discrepancies and irregularities in the donations received at the Ram Temple. He called for a fair investigation under the supervision of a current or former judge to uncover the truth about those responsible for the alleged misconduct. Mehrotra further claimed that some individuals have misused these funds to purchase properties. He emphasized the need for an impartial investigation, ideally overseen by a High Court or Supreme Court judge.

Mehrotra also accused the government and its ministers of deliberately inciting communal tensions and violence in Uttar Pradesh. He alleged that they aim to destroy communal harmony and disrupt Hindu-Muslim unity, seeking electoral gains by spreading hatred and dividing people. He criticized the government for diverting public attention from pressing issues like inflation, unemployment, corruption, rising crime, and stagnant health services, which remain unaddressed.

Commenting on the AIMIM, he stated that the party operates as the BJP’s B team, aiming to split Muslim votes. He claimed its objective is to harm the Samajwadi Party while benefiting the BJP, but he believes the public has recognized this strategy. Mehrotra expressed confidence that no AIMIM candidate would succeed in the elections, and the Samajwadi Party would regain a strong position in the state. He also alleged attempts to divide non-BJP votes, asserting that such efforts would not succeed.

Additionally, Mehrotra accused both the central and state governments of undermining opposition parties. He claimed that agencies like the CBI, ED, and Income Tax are being used to suppress opposition voices. He argued that using power and wealth to weaken political opponents is detrimental to democracy and warned of potential political repercussions in the future.
