Jagan Mohan Reddy Accuses Chandrababu Naidus Government of Silencing Opposition Voices

Amaravati, June 14: Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and YSR Congress Party president Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the N. Chandrababu Naidu government on Sunday of suppressing the voices of the public and the opposition.

He criticized the coalition government for targeting the YSR Congress Party’s social media presence. Reddy claimed in a post on social media that the state government is persistently stifling the voices of both the people and the opposition.

He noted that after the removal of their official Instagram handle earlier this year, the YSRCP’s official Facebook page is now also inaccessible in India. “This is not just an attack on the YSRCP; it is an assault on democratic values and freedom of expression. We merely present facts, expose the government’s failures and corruption, and highlight issues affecting the people,” he stated.

Reddy emphasized that shutting down the official handles of opposition parties and silencing truthful voices sets a dangerous precedent and is entirely undemocratic.

He pointed out a troubling pattern emerging, from filing cases against those questioning the government on issues like wasteful spending in Amaravati’s development, irregularities in the DSC process, TTD ghee tenders, and other public interest matters—where substantial evidence of corruption is being revealed—to restricting online critical content.

He further asserted that they would challenge these unjust actions through every legal and constitutional avenue available. “No threats, censorship, or misuse of institutions can silence the voices of the people. We are committed to holding those in power accountable and protecting the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression,” he declared.

The YSRCP leader demanded the immediate restoration of the official page in the interest of democracy and to uphold constitutional values.
