
Leeds, June 24: The Australian team continues its victorious journey in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. In the 21st match of the tournament, Australia showcased an impressive performance, defeating Pakistan by 113 runs at Headingley. Chasing a target of 200 runs set by Australia, Pakistan’s entire team collapsed for just 86 runs.
Pakistan’s innings got off to a poor start. Gul Firoza was run out after scoring just one run. Following her, Saira Jabeen also failed to make an impact, managing only five runs before being dismissed. Ayesha Zafar did not open her account and was run out as well. Iram Javed scored 14 runs off nine balls before falling to Georgia Wareham. Muniba Ali could not capitalize on her good start, scoring 32 runs off 25 balls before being caught by Gardner off Ellyse Perry’s bowling.
Alia Riaz also struggled, returning to the pavilion with just seven runs. Captain Fatima Sana had a quiet outing, scoring 17 runs off 12 balls before being dismissed by Annabel Sutherland. Rameen Shamim was run out without scoring. A total of eight Pakistani batswomen failed to reach double figures, with three not scoring at all. In bowling, Australia’s Ellyse Perry, Sophie Molineux, and Sutherland each took two wickets, while Wareham claimed one.
Earlier, Australia did not have a great start either, with Beth Mooney dismissed without scoring. However, Georgia Wall and Ellyse Perry steadied the innings, putting together a remarkable partnership of 100 runs for the second wicket off 56 balls. Wall scored 39 runs with seven fours from 28 balls, while Perry made 71 runs off 48 balls at a strike rate of 147, hitting nine fours and one six.
Ashley Gardner was dismissed without scoring, and Georgia Wareham contributed five runs. Annabel Sutherland added 27 runs off 18 balls with four fours, while Nicola Kerry remained unbeaten on 26 runs from 13 balls. On the bowling front, Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal, Rameen Shamim, and Nashra Sandhu each took two wickets.
