Cristiano Ronaldo Celebrates Team Success Over Personal Records in FIFA World Cup 2026

New Delhi, June 24: In a stunning display at the FIFA World Cup 2026, Portugal triumphed over Uzbekistan with a decisive 5-0 victory. Cristiano Ronaldo showcased his brilliance by scoring two remarkable goals. Following the match, Ronaldo emphasized that while setting records is gratifying, the team’s success remains his top priority.

Ronaldo netted the first goal for Portugal in just the sixth minute, making him the only player in history to score in six World Cups. He added his second goal in the 39th minute, becoming Portugal’s all-time leading scorer in World Cup history with a total of 10 goals, surpassing the legendary Eusébio, who scored 9.

After the match, Ronaldo stated, “I am very happy. The team played wonderfully and performed with great confidence. Records are always nice, but my goal is to help the national team achieve its objectives.”

Portugal’s coach, Roberto Martinez, praised the team’s comeback, learning from their previous match. He noted, “We received the exact response we expected from the players in the dressing room. Sometimes, tough matches like these are necessary to advance in a major tournament. The team displayed the same tenacity and dedication, but with more maturity than in the first match. I am extremely pleased with the team’s performance and the result.”

From the outset, Portugal dominated the match. Alongside Ronaldo, Nuno Mendes also delivered an impressive performance, contributing a goal from a free-kick in the first half. In the second half, Uzbekistan’s Azizjon Ganiev inadvertently scored an own goal, further solidifying Portugal’s lead. Rafa Leão capped off the scoring with a fifth goal in the 87th minute, sealing a fantastic victory for the team.
