Ashok Dinda Appointed Head of CABs Vision 2028 Program

Kolkata, June 25: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has appointed Ashok Dinda and Utpal Chatterjee to lead its ambitious ‘Vision 2028’ player development program. The initiative is set to launch in July 2026.

In an official statement, CAB announced, “On Wednesday, we revealed the inclusion of two prominent Bengal cricketers, Utpal Chatterjee and Ashok Dinda, in the Vision 2028 program starting in July 2026. Dinda has been named the head and fast bowling coach for Vision 2028, while Mr. Chatterjee will serve as the spin bowling coach.”

Vision 2028 is designed as a comprehensive blueprint to identify and nurture cricketing talent in Bengal. The state’s largest cricketing body has integrated the entire coaching core into this initiative for structural development.

Chatterjee played three One Day Internationals for India in 1995 and served as Bengal’s head coach during the 2008/09 season. Dinda represented India in 13 ODIs and 9 T20s from 2009 to 2013. He also holds a position as the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Textiles, and Agriculture in the West Bengal government.

According to CAB, all major state representative squads will actively involve assistant coaches and head coaches, including Under-16, Under-19, Under-23, and senior men’s and women’s Bengal teams, within the Vision program framework.

This decision was made following a meeting at Eden Gardens with CAB President Sourav Ganguly, Vice President Nitish Ranjan Dutta, and Treasurer Sanjay Das, along with the district sports association secretary and representatives. The meeting focused on preparing a roadmap for the upcoming 2026-27 local season after the completion of the Bengal T20 League for both men and women.
