Canberra (Australia), 26 August (Kiran News). Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced on Tuesday the decision to sever diplomatic relations with Iran, accusing Tehran of plotting two attacks on Jewish institutions in Australia last year. At a press conference, Albanese stated, “These were extraordinary and dangerous acts of aggression orchestrated by a foreign nation on Australian soil.” The Prime Minister was joined by the country’s top intelligence chief, the Foreign Minister, and the Home Minister during the announcement.

According to the American newspaper The New York Times, which reported Albanese’s statements on its website, Australian security agencies believe that Iran was behind the attacks at Sydney’s Louis Continental Kitchen in October and at Melbourne’s Adass Synagogue two months later. Australia’s intelligence chief, Mike Burgess, said that months-long investigations revealed connections between these attacks and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
