Ranchi, April 8: In a swift response, Ranchi police have solved a jewelry store robbery that occurred on Harihar Singh Road. Within 24 hours, they arrested three suspects and recovered stolen gold and silver jewelry, weapons, and the motorcycle used in the crime.
According to police reports, the robbery at Preeti Jewelers was reported around 6:45 PM on April 7. Upon receiving the information, the Senior Superintendent of Police in Ranchi was notified. Following this, a special task force was formed under the direction of the Superintendent of Police (City).
Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Besra, a joint team from Bariyatu and City police, along with the technical branch, acted quickly to apprehend the three suspects. The police seized stolen jewelry, five mobile phones, a country-made pistol, two magazines, and four live cartridges from the suspects. Additionally, two motorcycles used in the robbery were confiscated.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ashutosh Kumar from Sihodi in Giridih district, Mahesh Kumar Verma from Chachdhara in the Jamua police area, and Mohammad Siraj Ansari, also known as Sheru, from the Jhajha police area in Jamui district, Bihar.
A case has been registered at Bariyatu police station under the BNS Act. Initial investigations reveal that the suspects have criminal backgrounds. Ashutosh Kumar has multiple cases registered against him in various police stations in Giridih, while Mohammad Siraj Ansari had previously served time in jail in 2023. Mahesh Kumar Verma also has a history of incarceration related to theft in 2021.
