New Delhi, April 8: Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill showcased his talent on Wednesday during the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Delhi Capitals (DC). He formed a remarkable partnership with Washington Sundar, scoring 104 runs off 60 balls for the third wicket.
This partnership stands as the third-largest for the third wicket or lower in Gujarat Titans’ history. The record is held by Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford, who set a benchmark of 119 runs against Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad in 2025. Additionally, David Miller and Hardik Pandya had an unbroken partnership of 106 runs in the 2022 qualifier match against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Thanks to this partnership, Gujarat Titans posted a total of 210 runs, losing four wickets in their allotted overs. This marks GT’s second score of over 200 runs while batting first away from home. Last year, they scored 209/4 against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. In Ahmedabad, GT has achieved this feat nine times.
In IPL history, Gujarat Titans have crossed the 200-run mark a total of 18 times in any innings. Of these, 13 occurred in Ahmedabad, three in Delhi, and once each in Jaipur and Mohali.
During the match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Gujarat Titans lost their first wicket, Sai Sudharsan, for just 12 runs in 2.1 overs. Following this, captain Gill partnered with Jos Buttler to add 60 runs for the second wicket. Buttler scored 52 runs off 27 balls, hitting five sixes and two fours before being dismissed. Gill then teamed up with Washington Sundar to contribute 104 runs for the third wicket, propelling the team to a formidable total.
Gill scored 70 runs off 45 balls, including five sixes and four fours, while Washington Sundar added 55 runs from 32 balls, featuring two sixes and six fours. Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowler for the opposition, claiming two wickets, while Lungi Ngidi and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.
