
Jaipur, April 8: A tragic incident has emerged from the Army cantonment in Jaisalmer. A 34-year-old Havildar, Raghu S, serving in the 23 Field Regiment, took his own life by hanging. No suicide note was found at the scene. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation, while the soldier’s body has been handed over to his family with military honors.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when Havildar Raghu S ended his life at the 23 Field Regiment. Originally from Tamil Nadu, he had been stationed in Jaisalmer for some time. The news of the incident caused a stir within the unit. His colleagues promptly informed the authorities, leading to the arrival of local police.
Initial investigations revealed that no suicide note was recovered from the site, leaving the reasons for the suicide unclear.
Upon receiving the information, a team from the local police arrived at the scene. ASI Madaan Singh inspected the area and initiated necessary legal procedures. The body was taken into custody and sent to the hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police have registered a case and begun a thorough investigation. The family of the deceased Havildar Raghu S has been notified by the unit. His brother, Parthiban, who was in Kolkata at the time, immediately traveled to Jaisalmer. After a long journey, he arrived in Jaisalmer. Following the completion of necessary formalities, the police conducted the post-mortem with a medical board. The family has not expressed suspicion towards anyone in their report to the police, keeping the investigation limited to circumstantial evidence for now.
After the post-mortem on Wednesday, the police handed over the body to the family and military officials. In accordance with military traditions, Havildar Raghu S was honored during the proceedings. The body was transported from the mortuary in the presence of army officials and soldiers, evoking deep emotions among all present.
