Xi Jinping Proposes Five Initiatives at BRICS Summit to Enhance Cooperation

New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : During the 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi, Chinese President Xi Jinping presented five new initiatives aimed at strengthening collaboration among member countries. His address took place during the summit’s second session on September 13.

Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, shared details of President Xi’s speech on social media platform X. Xi emphasized the importance of open-source and inclusive artificial intelligence (AI), stating that China would take a leading role in establishing an AI open-source community under BRICS. He highlighted the need for cooperation in the development and utilization of large language models.

The President also announced plans for China to host specialized seminars and training programs related to AI, fostering an open and collaborative ecosystem for the technology.

In addition to AI, Xi discussed facilitating trade and investment. He proposed the creation of a special economic zone partnership within BRICS, which would enable member nations to develop a smart online portal. This platform would enhance policy coordination and create new opportunities for open development.

To further invigorate economic and trade cooperation, China plans to organize a BRICS trade service platform next year. Xi also mentioned the establishment of a digital ecosystem cloud platform for BRICS countries, aimed at promoting digital skills training, technology exchange, and collaboration across industries to advance the digital economy.

Regarding smart manufacturing, Xi expressed China’s readiness to assist other BRICS nations in establishing smart factories and developing related standards and regulations. This initiative aims to modernize the manufacturing sectors of member countries, improving quality and capacity.

Furthermore, Xi proposed the creation of a BRICS Engineering Development Alliance to focus on joint training for engineers and mutual recognition of their qualifications. He also announced the launch of a BRICS Young Scientists and Technical Innovation Exchange Program to nurture a skilled and talented future workforce.

Overall, President Xi Jinping stated that these initiatives are designed to deepen cooperation among BRICS countries in technology, trade, industry, innovation, and human resource development.
