Jaipur, May 19: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has accused the Rajasthan government of misleading the public regarding the alleged shortage of fuel. He stated that during a crisis, the government should be transparent to allow citizens to prepare and make alternative arrangements if necessary.
Gehlot pointed out reports of fuel and LPG shortages in certain areas of Jodhpur. He claimed that the state government is concealing the real situation from the public during this critical time.
In a statement, Gehlot mentioned that many individuals from Jodhpur, who visited him, reported limited fuel supplies at several stations. Some petrol pumps allegedly ran completely out of fuel.
He asserted, “Travelers from Jodhpur to Jaipur are forced to refuel three to four times because petrol pumps are reportedly refusing to dispense more than 1,000 rupees worth of fuel at once.” He further claimed that LPG cylinders have also been unavailable in some areas for several days.
While the government maintains that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG, Gehlot alleged that petrol pump operators have received verbal instructions to limit fuel supplies. He noted, “This has led to long queues outside petrol stations.”
Referring to reports that nearly 40 percent of petrol pumps in Jodhpur are out of fuel, Gehlot urged the government to avoid misleading the public and instead present the actual situation with full transparency.
“This is a time of crisis. Instead of spreading falsehoods and confusion, the government should tell the truth so that people can prepare and make alternative arrangements if needed,” he said.
He also warned that the spread of unverified information and rumors could lead to panic and chaos among the public.
