Arunachal Pradesh Governor Advocates for Citizen-Centric Administrative Reforms

Itanagar, August 22: Arunachal Pradesh Governor K.T. Parnaik emphasized the need for administrative reforms that are practical, citizen-centric, and future-ready. He highlighted the importance of ensuring service accessibility to the last mile, promoting inclusive development, and providing accountable governance to citizens in remote border and rural areas.

During a meeting with Pramod Jain, the retired IAS officer and Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Administrative Reforms Commission, the governor reviewed ongoing and proposed reforms aimed at strengthening public trust, empowering grassroots institutions, enhancing transparency and accountability, and improving the quality and efficiency of public services.

Governor Parnaik called for an alignment of Arunachal Pradesh’s administrative framework with the aspirations of its people and the evolving demands of governance. He stressed the significance of participatory and decentralized governance, transparency, accountability, digitization, timely service delivery, and outcome-oriented administration.

He underscored the necessity of empowering grassroots institutions to ensure that decision-making processes and developmental benefits reach communities more effectively. Parnaik noted that Arunachal Pradesh, with its vast mountainous terrain, scattered settlements, rich tribal and cultural diversity, and sensitive international borders, requires an administrative system that is efficient, flexible, and responsive to local conditions.

He advocated for greater use of technology and data-driven governance to overcome geographical challenges and improve access to public services. The Arunachal Pradesh Administrative Reforms Commission had previously submitted its initial report to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, marking a significant step towards strengthening governance and enhancing administrative efficiency in the state.

Upon receiving the report, Chief Minister Khandu described this initiative as a crucial move towards modernizing the administrative framework and improving public service delivery. He emphasized that reforms should not be limited to system changes but should also aim to make governance more accountable, transparent, and citizen-focused.
