Daund, August 22: A shocking incident has emerged from the Defense Colony area of Daund, Maharashtra, where a 25-year-old woman was brutally attacked with a knife. Following her complaint, police have registered a case against her husband and one of his friends.
According to police reports, the victim, Priyanka Umesh Gaikwad, a resident of Gajanan Society in Daund, filed the complaint against the accused, Vishal Prakash Jadhav and Rishi Ashok Doke.
The attack occurred on the night of August 19, 2026, around 8:30 PM. The victim was riding her scooter with her child and a friend when the assailants, on a motorcycle, began to follow them. They lured her to a secluded spot in Defense Colony under the pretext of wanting to talk for two minutes.
Once there, Rishi Doke allegedly attempted to forcibly restrain her while Vishal Jadhav brandished a knife, threatening, “We won’t let you live today,” before slashing at her neck. The woman sustained serious injuries from the attack.
Upon hearing her screams, several young men nearby rushed to her aid. The police arrived shortly after, prompting both attackers to flee the scene. The injured woman sought help from the police, and with the assistance of local residents, she was first taken to Mahalaxmi Hospital and later transferred to Pyramid Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
Reports indicate that Priyanka married Vishal Jadhav in 2018, but due to his alcoholism, the couple faced ongoing disputes and have been living separately since 2022. The police have initiated further investigations into the case.
