Arjun Bijlani Discusses the Unique Nature of TV, OTT, and Films

Mumbai, June 9: In the entertainment industry, the distinctions between television, OTT platforms, and films are frequently debated. Each platform has its own style, language, and audience. Recently, TV actor Arjun Bijlani shared his insights on these three mediums.

Bijlani stated in an interview that he does not view them as competitors. Instead, he sees them as different platforms where artists present their craft in unique ways.

He explained, “I don’t see TV, OTT, and films as a competition. They are like different classrooms, where the subject is the same—acting—but the presentation and impact vary.”

He elaborated, “On television, actors have the time to gradually develop their roles, as TV shows tend to run longer, allowing for deeper character exploration. Films, however, have limited time, requiring each scene to be executed more precisely and effectively. On the other hand, OTT platforms give actors the opportunity to add more layers to their characters and showcase them in greater detail.”

Bijlani emphasized that for an actor, the medium is not the most important factor; the story is. “If the story is strong, it can succeed on any platform, be it TV, OTT, or films. The real strength lies in the story, as it connects with the audience and engages them emotionally. In today’s world, content is king, not the platform.”

When asked about the increasing bold content on OTT and in films, he remarked, “Television remains a medium for traditional and family-oriented entertainment. Content on TV is crafted so that the entire family can watch together. OTT and films are more liberated, showcasing a variety of stories. Today’s viewers are quite discerning, with plenty of options available. If someone doesn’t want to watch a particular type of content, they can simply skip it and choose what they prefer.”

Regarding his career, Arjun Bijlani has appeared in several popular TV shows, including ‘Remix’, ‘Left Right Left’, ‘Mile Jab Hum Tum’, ‘Naagin’, and ‘Pyar Ka Pehla Adhyay: Shiv Shakti’. Through these shows, he has established a strong presence in the TV industry.
