Amaravati, August 15: The Andhra Pradesh government is organizing an International Professional Development Program for 29 teachers from government schools who have received the ‘Best Teacher Award.’
These educators will depart for Finland on Saturday to observe and understand globally recognized teaching methods and innovative educational practices. This program is being conducted in collaboration with Turku University in Finland.
Running from August 17 to 26, the eight-day program will take the teachers to Turku and Rauma. They will witness classroom instruction, visit educational institutions, and engage with educators at early childhood education centers and teacher training schools.
The objective of this program is to enhance teachers’ understanding of foundational learning, increase the use of digital learning tools, develop leadership and mentoring skills, and promote a school culture focused on learning, happiness, and student well-being.
Based on insights gained from Finland’s education system, the teachers will also create school-based projects to implement in their respective schools. Award-winning teachers will serve as resource persons and mentors for other educators at the district and division levels. They will assist in adapting and adopting Finnish methods to suit the educational environment of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking on the initiative, Minister Nara Lokesh stated, “Teachers are the foundation of our society and the architects of our children’s future. They possess the power to shape not only our students’ minds but also the future of Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, it is crucial to empower our teachers with the right knowledge, skills, and global exposure. This international opportunity will help our best teachers bring new ideas and effective methods from Finland to our schools.”
