Mumbai, August 17: Anand Dubey, spokesperson for Shiv Sena (UBT), addressed the ongoing student protests in Jharkhand, emphasizing that no issue is more significant than the concerns of children and the new generation. He highlighted that students are frustrated with paper leaks, corruption in job placements, and the deteriorating education system. This discontent also reflects the anger of parents who participate in elections to choose their government.
Dubey urged the government to reflect on why students are repeatedly expressing their dissatisfaction. He suggested that Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren should engage with state leaders to resolve these educational issues.
Responding to Congress leader Hussain Dalwai’s claims regarding Gopinath Munde and Eknath Shinde, Dubey stated that Munde, a prominent OBC leader, has passed away, and comments about him should be avoided. He mentioned that he is unaware of any discussions between Prithviraj Chavan and Munde. Regarding Eknath Shinde, Dubey noted that Balasaheb Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray played significant roles in making him a legislator. If Shinde is contemplating joining Congress, he should clarify that with Dalwai. Despite Shiv Sena elevating Shinde to leadership positions, his departure from the party suggests personal ambitions.
On the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Dubey acknowledged that he is aware of the one-hour discussion. He remarked that this is an internal matter for the BJP, and the true situation will only become clear after statements from Fadnavis or the Prime Minister. He noted that it is normal for a Chief Minister to meet with the Prime Minister, indicating potential discussions about cabinet reshuffles within the BJP.
Regarding the ‘Vande Mataram‘ controversy, Dubey stated that it should not be politicized. He emphasized that ‘Vande Mataram’ is a song connected to national sentiment and deserves respect from all. In response to the case filed against Sonia Gandhi, he mentioned that the senior Congress leader has clarified her position. He criticized the BJP for attempting to portray itself as more patriotic than Congress, asserting that both sides are patriotic.
On the mandatory use of Marathi for auto and taxi drivers, Dubey said that language is a matter of respect. He expressed hope that more residents of Maharashtra and Mumbai would learn Marathi, thereby embracing the state’s culture.
Dubey also questioned the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) decision to retake three subjects for the UGC-NET 2026 exam. He pointed out that repeated paper leaks and exam cancellations negatively impact students’ mental health. He called for reforms within the NTA to prevent future incidents of paper leaks.
Finally, Dubey commented on the term ‘mental Naxal,’ asserting that every individual in India should be patriotic and nationalist. He described his party as ‘mental nationalists’ and ‘mental Sanatanis.’
