Pune, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Amit Thackeray, the president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS), voiced strong discontent regarding the conditions faced by students at Pune’s government polytechnic college during his visit on Sunday. Following his inspection, he called for immediate improvements from both the college principal and local police, warning that he would return for a follow-up after the Ganesh festival.
Thackeray highlighted the dire situation, stating, “I will visit again right after Ganeshotsav. I want to see if the problems have been addressed. I urge the police and the principal to resolve these issues. Students are eating food infested with insects. Their drinking water is contaminated, the toilets are in a terrible state, and the hostel conditions are unacceptable. No student should have to endure such living conditions, whether in government or private institutions.”
He emphasized that one cannot grasp the reality of these issues from an air-conditioned room. “Meet with the farmers,” he urged. “I have seen many videos where farmers plead with ministers, crying for help, yet the ministers ignore them. I believe you have seen these videos too.”
Thackeray insisted that the government should officially declare the drought conditions and provide the necessary relief to farmers. “You may not have made such an announcement yet, but nature has already created a drought-like situation,” he remarked.
He also expressed his fondness for visiting Pune every year to experience Ganeshotsav. “The enthusiasm in the city is palpable as people flock to see Gauri Ganapati or visit the Ganesh pandals on the fifth day. Walking through the city and visiting the pandals is an experience in itself,” he noted.
Regarding the drought conditions in Marathwada and Vidarbha, Thackeray announced plans to tour the areas, urging responsible ministers to officially declare the drought.
