Amit Shahs Push for Uniform Civil Code Gains Support from BJP Spokesman Rakesh Tripathi

Lucknow, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Rakesh Tripathi, a spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), shared his candid views on several issues during a press conference on Monday in Lucknow. He addressed topics such as changes in the Lohia Trust, the Samajwadi Party’s proposed district-wise manifesto strategy, remarks by Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary, and Rahul Gandhi’s comments on the BRICS summit dinner menu, targeting both Congress and the Samajwadi Party.

In response to Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement about implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in 21 states by 2027, Tripathi emphasized that Article 44 of the Constitution promotes the UCC. He noted that the Supreme Court has referenced the UCC in various rulings, and the BJP has consistently reaffirmed its commitment to this in its electoral manifestos.

Tripathi pointed out that BJP-ruled states have made strides in this area. Uttarakhand became the first state in India to enact the UCC, while other states are in the process of forming committees and drafting bills. He expressed optimism that UCC implementation would progress in BJP-led states before the 2029 general elections.

On claims made by West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh regarding madrasas, Tripathi stated that connections to terrorism or extremist activities have been identified in some cases. He raised concerns about the funding of madrasas and stressed the need for action against any illegal activities. He asserted that while madrasas can serve as centers for religious education, promoting extremism within them is a serious issue.

Regarding the Samajwadi Party’s strategy to prepare a district-wise manifesto, Tripathi sarcastically remarked that the party has previously been embroiled in accusations of “one district, one mafia.” He suggested that the party’s new approach aims to present its political plans more effectively.

Tripathi claimed that under the BJP government, significant actions have been taken against influential criminals. He advised Akhilesh Yadav to understand the geographical, social, and political conditions of all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh before formulating a district-wise policy, criticizing Yadav for previously focusing on only select districts.

Commenting on Jayant Chaudhary’s statement that Akhilesh Yadav would struggle to stand in Uttar Pradesh if certain facts were revealed, Tripathi noted growing discontent in western Uttar Pradesh due to comments made by Yadav and the Samajwadi Party leadership regarding Chaudhary and the Jat community.

He claimed this dissatisfaction is causing Yadav to cancel scheduled events in the region. Tripathi highlighted that Chaudhary is carrying forward the political legacy of Chaudhary Charan Singh, suggesting that Yadav should show respect to Chaudhary’s family.

On Akhilesh Yadav taking charge of the Lohia Trust, Tripathi remarked that Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia opposed dynastic politics throughout his life. He questioned the increasing influence of the Saifai family over the trust named after Lohia and recalled the political conflict between Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav before the 2017 assembly elections, wondering if a similar situation might arise before the 2027 elections.

Tripathi pointed out that Akhilesh Yadav, as the national president of the Samajwadi Party and now the head of the Lohia Trust, should trust his family members more.

Addressing Rahul Gandhi’s critique of the BRICS summit dinner menu, Tripathi accused Congress of lacking substance by turning such discussions into political issues. He argued that instead of focusing on the menu, the party should engage in meaningful dialogue about the summit’s discussions and India’s role as host.

Finally, Tripathi praised the Indian women’s cricket team’s performance in the Asia Cup, calling it a source of national pride. He stated that their success is celebrated across the country and highlighted India’s stance against Pakistan’s promotion of terrorism, suggesting that the incident has helped clarify Pakistan’s role on the global stage.
