Amit Shah to Focus on Drug Prevention During Three-Day Visit to Goa

Panaji, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Central Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a three-day visit to Goa starting Saturday. His itinerary includes presiding over a meeting of the Ministry of Home Affairs, participating in the Western Zonal Council meeting, and addressing a press conference focused on drug prevention efforts.

Shah will arrive in Goa on Saturday and remain in the state until September 7. His agenda features several official events related to internal security, measures against drugs, and coordination between the central and state governments, alongside activities linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

On the morning of September 6, Shah will lead a meeting to review various issues concerning Goa within different departments of the Home Ministry. This meeting is expected to address several state-related matters as well as issues falling under the jurisdiction of the central government.

In the afternoon, Shah will hold a press conference to discuss drug-related issues. The focus will be on combating drug trafficking, strengthening the national framework against drugs, and enhancing efforts to curb the illegal movement of narcotics.

During his stay in Goa, Shah will also inaugurate the newly constructed BJP state office building, ‘Atal Bhavan’. Following the inauguration, he will preside over a meeting of the party’s state core committee, which will likely discuss organizational and political matters.

On September 7, Shah will participate in the Western Zonal Council meeting, a crucial platform for coordination and discussions among the western states and Union Territories. Representatives from Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, along with Daman and Diu, will convene for this meeting.

The council provides a forum for discussing regional development, administrative coordination, and inter-state cooperation. It is anticipated that the meeting will cover mutual interests among the participating states and Union Territories, emphasizing improved collaboration and addressing regional concerns.

After the Western Zonal Council meeting, Shah will attend the Goa Police’s ‘President Colors’ award ceremony at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Taleigao. The ‘President Colors’ award is one of the highest honors awarded to uniformed services, recognizing outstanding service, professional excellence, and significant contributions to national security and public service.
